Postcards

I keep stamps in my wallet.
This doesn't mean that I send a lot of letters, though it should.

I love getting emails, especially from people I haven't heard from in a long time, but nothing seems to compare to the definite intent behind real paper post.
I am selling these postcards as a set of 5 for $6 (postage is an extra $2 for anywhere in the world) and I hope that it inspires some people to share the love, be thoughtful, send someone evidence that you were thinking about them and that they matter.

Hopefully it means that I will be using up some of the stamps sitting in my wallet too. Before Australia Post puts the prices up again.

At $1.50 each you can grab some of the other postcards I've made too.  The coloured Triangles, the Orc and the Forest Spirit.

scatter sunshine

Sending things in the post is pretty awesome. I have a fair number of friends who live far away and so sending things is good. Paying more for postage than you did for what you are sending? Significantly less so.

I have seen these teeny canvas panels in shops for a while, and had absolutely no notion as to how to use them. Till I decided to start sending things in the mail again. (see: 2012 resolutions)

I painted little pictures on them (stuck on some fish and a boat made out of calendar paper). Glued a little note card on the back. Sealed the whole thing with a coat of varnish-y stuff. And now there are tiny and highly mailable art cards to send to people!!

I really like them.

The lost arts

I am fed up with only getting bills, junk and the old residents mail in the letter box.

Earlier this year (or was it last?) I made a heap of envelopes, which will find their way to others real life 'inboxes' throughout the year.

If you would like one of them to be delivered to you, please leave me a comment below.

Recently there has been a spate of 'pay it forward' statuses on facebook that look like this :

Pay it forward... I promise to make something handmade for the first five people to comment. They must in turn post this and make something for the first five people that comment on their status. The rules are it must be handmade by you and they must receive it before 2012 ends...it can be as simple as making a friend some cookies! mmm cookies :)

I think its awesome, because it means things in the mail.

I recently got called to be the youth leader of the 12-18 year old girls at my church. (That's Young Women's President to you fellow Mormon-ites) If anyone is missing out on the pure awesomeness of real mail, I think that its this generation. If you have daughters this age, or if you are part of the young women's program in your ward and would like to get them in touch with some very cool Australian girls, let me know. My girls don't know it yet, but they're all going to go back in time.

To when people used stamps.
